Brand recognition… or not!

Posted by: Pierre Sauvignon In: E-Marketing| Internet| Marketing

Unless you were exiled on a very remote island (yep, more remote than Australia) for the last few months, you probably saw one of those:

I personally don’t think the name merging thing will be so good. Especially when you ask yourself a few quick questions:

- What brand recognition does Microsoft have?
Here are the keywords that are coming to my mind when thinking about Microsoft: Failure, fatal error, blue screen, accounting, bug, IE, suit, closed, money, bill gate.

- What brand recognition does Yahoo have?
Here are the keywords that come to my mind: Outsider, backup search motor, ad market failure, slow, bling bling, old

- What is the best way to re-build brand recognition?
Change the name.

So, in case the two got married, what are your guesses for the name of the baby?

  • AW30: Hi mate, I think you had one to many '0' in the Nikon D700 exposure. 256000? That's rather high! A
  • Crystal: I agree, although lately I've noticed news items are being grouped like you suggested. Maybe someone from google reader support stumbled on your list
